Architect Member (AIA)

Open to individuals licensed to practice architecture in one or more U.S. States or Territories.

Associate Member (Assoc. AIA)

Open to individuals who meet one of the following criteria:
  • Recent Graduate with a degree in architecture (see Graduate Membership)
  • Currently enrolled in the Architectural Experience Program (AXP) and working towards licensure, or
  • Currently work under the supervision of an architect or hold a degree in architecture, or
  • Faculty member in a university program in architecture.

New Graduate

The AIA National Component Offers Complimentary Membership to individuals who have graduated with a degree in Architecture from a NAAB accredited school of Architecture.
  • Offer provides qualified individuals up to 18 months of free membership in The American Institute of Architects ending on 12/31 of the following year of graduation.
  • Complimentary membership may not be available at all local and state chapter levels.

Allied Membership

Allied Membership is available to those with established professional reputations who are registered to practice their professions where such requirements exist, or persons who are employed outside of architectural practice but are involved in positions allied to the field of architecture.
