New Executive Director:
The committee made a final selection and took its
recommendation to your board of directors on April 15, 2008,
and, with unanimous support, offer the position of executive
director to Nancy Payne. Through the generosity of her
previous employer, Moeckel Carbonell Associates, Nancy has
been working with AIA Delaware for a number of months on an
as needed basis. She has been around the architectural
community here in Delaware, for several years now, first
with Bernardon Haber Holloway Architects and then Moeckel
Carbonell. Before that, her responsibilities expanded to
ultimately include revamping several components of a large
company. Nancy is ready to hit the ground running, she
has great enthusiasm and, as you hear through the
grapevine, describes her strength in one phrase:
“happy/tenacity.” She will now start working in earnest with
the Revitalization Committee to debate the great ideas that
are surfacing, to test those ideas, and to implement them in
a timely fashion.
Again, please welcome Nancy Payne, your new AIA Delaware
executive director.
• AIA Delaware members
should have received dues renewal notices from AIA National
by now. For details, check
your renewal information or go to
www.aia.org.

For several
years, a number of AIA DE chapter members have been active
participants in a group known as the ABC-AIA Partnering
Committee, which has provided a forum for discussing topics of
common interest to owners, contractors and design professionals
in the delivery of construction projects. Membership includes
ABC Delaware and various large regional project or property
owners (Delaware Department of Administrative Services,
University of Delaware, Delaware River & Bay Authority,
Christiana Care, New Castle County, Diamond State Port
Corporation, Delaware Tech, City of Wilmington, Brandywine
School District, Red Clay School District). After
extensive study and discussion, the committee has developed a
number of best practices recommendations for the benefit of all
project participants and the Delaware construction community at
large, in the areas of:
#1, Record
Drawings
#2, Electronic Documents
#3, Requests for Information (RFIs)
#4, Special Inspections
AIA DE wishes
to thank the various chapter members who have contributed their
time and energy to this ongoing effort. |
