AIA DE Associate News
It’s now easier to check out ARE study material. All the materials are now available for checkout from the AIA Delaware office at #5 Vandever in Wilmington. The checkout period will remain at two weeks, and you must still make your reservation requests at least a week in advance. Check-out day is every other Wednesday. To see which sections are available, go to http://calendar.yahoo.com/assocaiade.

To make a reservation, contact the AIA DE office at aiade@verizon.net with the section you would like to reserve and the Wednesday you would like to pick it up. Pick-up and drop-off are strictly between 11 a.m. and noon, so please be prompt.
Please remember that refundable $150 deposit is required when checking out the materials (to cover the cost of replacement if they are damaged or lost).

The current ARE Study Guide is available for members to check out. The study material will be provided free to all current Associate members who are studying for the Architects Registration Exam.

For a sense of the value of this service to AIA DE members, keep this in mind:
Total individual cost of ARE study materials for every section: $1,500.
Total cost of a year’s membership in AIA DE: about $200.
Potential savings: about $1,300!

2. Check availability of individual study guides at http://calendar.yahoo.com/AssocAIADE.
   
3. Send message to aiade@verizon.net with the week you wish to check out material. All requests must be received at least seven days in advance.
   
4. You will receive a confirmation e-mail message notifying you when the materials may be picked up; standard pickup time: Wednesdays after 7:30 p.m.
   
5. Bring your security deposit ($50/per item) to 1316 West 10th Street, #1 (first floor), 5 Vandever Avenue in Wilmington (AIA Delaware's main office).
   
6. Items must be returned by 11:00 a.m. the following Wednesday. You will receive your deposit check back if you abide by the “Agreement for Checking Out ARE Study Materials.”

If you know of colleagues planning to take the exam who are not Associate members of AIA DE, please let them know that it is much less expensive to study for the exam as an AIA DE member than to buy all the study materials on one’s own.

The AIA DE Associates will establish a regular study session for members planning to take the exam. Announcements of meeting times, locations and proposed discussion topics of each session will go out by e-mail.
