The
Mission
Founded in 1997 the
Delaware Architecture foundation is a public, non-profit charitable corporation.
The primary goal of the Foundation is to foster excellence in the urban
environment by promotion of quality design, development, construction and
preservation. In the pursuit of this goal, the Delaware Architecture Foundation
seeks to educate and improve communication among all who form and use the
built environment. All interested individuals are invited to join DAF to
support and become involved in this organization.
Our Vision
To promote good design, awareness of Architecture, and to educate the public
in all ways possible. The DAF is committed to the citizens and the State
of Delaware.
The DAF will organize and offer tours of neighborhood, specific buildings,
historic sites and new projects.
The Architect in the Schools Program will provide appropriate level instruction
for elementary, intermediate and high school students featuring awareness
of community design, styles and fads in the built environment, the business
of building, historic preservation and leading edge design.
Hands-on-programs using sand, legos, box construction, field trips, photography
and sketching techniques will introduce the world of design at all levels.
Our monthly newsletter will carry articles and items about DAF members,
projects opportunities and comments and updates on activities around the
state.
Future plans include a bookstore for the public, a reference library, traveling
exhibits, lecture series by known authorities in specific areas of design
and construction. Site visits, walking tours and longer excursions will
provide opportunities for all members to participate and enjoy. |
