The State of Delaware
is facing significant challenges in preparing for the next century. As the
"First State" and a vital link in the rich resources of the Middle Atlantic
Region of the US it is evident that the development decisions of today will
determine the quality of life for our future generations.
What
is the DAF?
The Delaware Architecture Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation
in the state of Delaware. Membership is comprised of architects, engineers,
contractors, landscape architects, graphic artists, artisits, business leaders
and concerned citizens
The Delaware Architecture Foundation (DAF) will work to raise public awareness
and develop solutions to these challenges. If Delaware is to remain a choice
place to live and work, each of us must take an active role in the planning
of our future - for ourselves, for our children and for Delaware. That is
why the DAF will lead the way.
We invite you to join the mission to protect and enhance the legacy of
Delaware - our historic treasures, our vital communities and our precious
natural resources. With your help, we can make a difference.

The Delaware Architecture Foundation sponsors the Victorine du Pont Homsey
Scholarship program.
The Program is intended to assist women graduates of Delaware public high
schools in pursuing a career in the design profession. Criteria is currently
being refined and will be available upon written request.
The foundation is actively pursuing additional scholarship funding and is
open to suggestions and recommendations from all sources.
Kids In Design
This program will provide school children throughout
the state with education experiences leading to an understanding of the
human-made environment. Through programs designed specifically for the appropriate
age level, children develop an appreciation for their relationship with
the natural environment and for the design and problem solving process.
In this program, architects and other design professionals work with classroom
teachers to create projects that challenge students to develop and use a
multi disciplinary approach to problem solving.
Student become aware of the influence they can have on their environment
and the quality of life in their community.
High School Design Competition
An Annual Architectural Design competition challenges high school drafting
students to creatively attack and solve a specific design problem. As part
of the program, finalists are given the opportunity to present and discuss
their work during a juried review. Participation students attempt design
solutions and hone their drafting and presentation skills.
The interaction between students and the professional design jury members
offers the participant insight into the nature of the profession. Winners
are honored at an awards celebration following the critique. The foundation
co-sponsors this competition with other professional organizations in the
state. |
